To me, being a father figure means responsibility. It means raising your children, it means sacrifice, discipline, strength, the one who sets the example, the one who demands obedience and order, then one who teaches that the world is cruel and unsafe, and that we are followed by our mortality wherever we may go. The father is the beginning of our experience with what I believe is the harsh reality of who we are. Having a father is crucial for everyone. A father is a fundamental element in any family, and an the absence of one can be catastrophic in out personal formation. The willingness to confront life is not common, and it takes tremendous amounts of courage. This willingness is only obtained by facing problems head on, which can be difficult with the over-protection often associated with the mother, which obviously will also be part of the series. The mother, however, represents the end and and a re-birth, as well as creation from nothing. She will be reserved for the end of the story, assuming a bigger role.
