Adorationbringer
When love becomes pure and obsessive it transforms into adoration. Adoration is most often linked to religion because of how it asks us to adore a loving God, and pray fervently for salvation. Adoration is very interesting because it allows us to be cleansed of negative emotions and thoughts, but it can do so to the point of rendering us blind.
Adoration’s dangers lie in loving someone or something excessively. Failing to notice a lack of reciprocity (or becoming toxic and obsessive) can cause harm to both the person giving love and the one receiving it. Loving your god or gods to the point of adoration can give you an exquisite peace of mind in knowing that you have a all-powerful protector, but it also blinds you to you own responsibilities. Adoring a person as a god or as something akin to one, can put unbearable pressure on them when you expect the same affection back. Toxic behaviors are common with people who don’t have a clear understanding of how to give and receive love. Visualizing a human being, with all of their imperfections, as something worth adoring relentlessly can only end up in disappointment. Learning to check our expectations and to give love in moderation goes a long way in creating good relationships.
As I said, however, adoration has its perks. It gives us peace of mind (even if for a short while), it gives us a reason to live, it makes us feel worth something, and it diverts our sense of responsibility from the rest of the world. These are short-term pleasure points though, and you adore indiscriminately at your own risk.
