Mothman

Although a very fascinating creature to talk about and theorize on, the Mothman does not come from a legend or tale passed down by generations. Its existence is attributed simply to sightings of large birds at night, which were mistaken for something else. Citizens of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, however, remained convinced that their little town was being stalked by a supernatural creature hell-bent on evil.

Many years after the first time it was discovered, Mothman grew to become the town’s mascot, and the stories of its sightings became so popular and wild that it single-handedly put Point Pleasant on the map, and the town became a new tourist destination. Although not the most interesting story, Mothman is definitely a creature that has had very real consequences on the lives of many Americans.
