The Bringer of Kindness
The thoughts behind the original creation of this image can be found here. This particular iteration was born out of the desire to translate this work into a different surface with the intention of meditating on its details and forms, and finding new nuanced textures and forms. In revisiting an old piece and translating it into a different medium, the possibility of the multiple from printmaking persists, however, the labor and hours of work needed to create the inaccurate and imperfect copy takes on a whole different world of meaning. The care and work that goes into creating a reiteration speaks to the desire of spending time with the original image, but wanting it to be much more. It’s a prayer of renewal and revitalization, and the best part is that this is not an aggressive transformation, since the old version still remains, giving us both to enjoy and ponder on.
