A self-portrait of sorts, reflecting on what my life is all about: a series of instances where I’m reminded that I’m unstoppable. First I didn’t speak the language, then I didn’t know how to draw, then I didn’t know how to print, then I didn’t know how to teach, then I didn’t know how to be professional, and then, and then, and then. There’s always a “and then”. I love it when I doubt myself and I’m convinced I can’t do something, just to go and do it anyway. I love to look at myself in the mirror and see a self-made man.

The print reflects the eagle-man that continues to appear in my work as of late. A representation of the American side of my immigrant self. The eagle is holding a mirror, or a portrait, that shows the side of me I admire the most, which is the ambitious, hard-working man chained to his table, dedicated to his craft. This image is a re-do of an old linocut from 2020.
